Lettuce Symphony

Lettuce Symphony is a lush variety of lettuce with gorgeous leaves turning a striking, dark green colour.  It is perfect for babyleaf salad production and as a garnish on all kinds of dishes.

Lettuce Symphony Growing Advice

Sowing Indoors

• Lettuce can be sown indoors, thinly into mods, seed trays or module trays around 1cm deep and covered with growing medium.  This can definitely give your lettuce plants a 'head start' and protect them from cold weather and potential pests during early spring.  Indoor-sown lettuce plants can be gradually hardened off and planted outside during spring once the risk of frost has passed.
• It's also possible to sow lettuce regularly into pots on the windowsill and harvest delicious baby leaf salad throughout the year.

Sowing Outdoors

• You can sow lettuce directly outdoors once the soil has warmed in mid to late spring.  Sow the seeds thinly, 1cm deep in rows 30cm apart.  Avoid sowing too many seeds to avoid possible gluts and instead sow in batches a few weeks apart.  They will enjoy growing in a warm and sunny position.

Ongoing care and harvest

• If you are seeking to harvest lettuce heads rather than baby leaf salad then thin out the seedlings as they grow.
• During hot summer months, lettuce will benefit from a shaded position.
